One of the best parts of the game Republic Commando is the amazing music. In addition to traditional Star Wars music, composer Jesse Harlin created original music featuring Mandalorian lyrics. I love this game's soundtrack; it does a wonderful job of setting the mood in the game, and goodness knows I listen to it a heck of a lot out-of-game as well. :)
Want to download the music? Of course you do!
All the Republic Commando music used to be available for free download at the game's official website, however Lucasarts has now taken the site down. (Something about games getting old... pfft. :P) Anyways, the music isn't readily available anymore, which is no good because people still want the music (as evidenced by the number of people who've emailed me about it in recent weeks). So I decided to upload the soundtrack here.
Disclaimer: Music isn't mine, etc. I'm offering it for download only because: 1) it used to be available freely and now it isn't, and 2) people still want it.
So here you go, the Republic Commando soundtrack. 15 songs in MP3 format, 35 MB zipped.
If you just want the title song, Vode An (Brothers All), you can get that here. It's also zipped, MP3, 3 MB. Sorry about the zipping, but it's the only way I can prevent people from embedding it into their own websites, sending my bandwidth to Mustafar.
If you've played the game a lot, you may have noticed, as forum member sten4sw did, that the soundtrack as distributed above (the one that was once on the official RepCom website) doesn't actually include all the music used in the game.
One song in particular plays several times during the game and is quite memorable as a very heroic merging of RepCom themes with the "Qui-Gon's Noble End" theme from the Star Wars Episode I soundtrack. sten4sw tracked down the song and, calling it 'Parjai' (Mando'a for 'victory'), shared it with forum members. Now you can download it as well. :)
Thanks to Akula for hosting the file until I was able to get it up here. :)
The lyrics and their Basic (ie. English) translations were also available at the official site, but now are gone. However, I've formatted them for the web for your bookmarking, saving, or printing pleasure.
I made a medley using Republic Commando music, which you can find more about (and download) here.
The credits theme song in the game is a song called 'Clones' by the band Ash. A music video for this song is also included in the game.
If you own the PC version of Republic Commando, you can extract this song for out-of-game listening rather easily. Just open Windows Explorer, browse to the Programs Files/Lucasarts/Star Wars Republic Commando/GameData/Music directory, and then copy the ASH_Track4_Clones.ogg file to somewhere else on your harddrive. If you already have a media player that plays .OGG files, you're set. If not, either download one, see if your preferred music program has a plugin or extension to play .OGG, or find a program that will convert .OGG to .MP3 or another extension that you can play. The music video is in the /Video directory and is called ExtrasAsh.mpg (note that the video uses a shortened version of the song).
The song itself is on Ash's CD Meltdown, which you can find at Amazon.com, among other places.
