Hey everyone, I'm Amy and I'm the webmaster of this site. I am currently 26 years old and I live in Canada. You may know me as ywingempress at various forums.
Um, let's see, what else about me... I've always liked Star Wars since when I first saw it as a kid, but it wasn't really until my teens until I considered myself a true fan. My younger brother was the Star Wars fan in the family - he bought all the old-school PC games like X-Wing and TIE Fighter, and those were my first introduction to the Star Wars Expanded Universe (aka "EU"). They were fun to play and I loved them. When I was in high school, I began reading Star Wars novels, beginning with the Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn. After that I was hooked, and I read every SW book my brother owned. Eventually he lost interest in the books and I had to buy new ones myself; the first SW book I ever bought was Vision of the Future. (I now own all my brothers books as well!) Star Wars was quickly becoming a central hobby in my life, but the final step was Episode I: The Phantom Menace. I was not involved in the hype leading up to the movie at all, so I knew absolutely nothing about the movie before I saw it. And when I eventually did, I loved it. I was completely amazed that the movie was able to show me that there was more to Star Wars than just three movies. It wasn't a story anymore, Star Wars was a galaxy. Sure, the games and books expanded my views as well, but the prequels movies gave the rest of the EU more credibility, I think... the books and games I loved weren't just tie-ins 'inspired by' the original three movies, but part of a larger galaxy that was real in many ways. The Star Wars galaxy has diversity and its own values, morals, and beliefs - it's not just a setting for one story, but there are infinitely many stories waiting to be told. Once my horizons were broadened like that, there was no going back - I was an obsessed Star Wars fangirl. :)
